Lynne Murphy is an American who has lived in the UK for many years and is Professor of Linguistics at Sussex University. She also writes the very popular blog 'Separated By A Common Language' . Her first book for a non-academic audience is published in March by Penguin US and One World in the UK and is, as PW says, 'thoughtful, funny and approachable'. It is full of surprising factual titbits and wonderfully strange cultural divergences between British and American English.
